Academia-industry collaboration has always been a hotbed of discussion on both sides of the union. Some might say that industry and academia sit at two opposite ends of the spectrum and the twain shall never meet, but what we are about to share is a shining example of the possibilities such a collaboration can create. Godrej and Whistling Woods International have co-created “Ideas That Sing”, a set of videos created by students of Whistling Woods International which show how Godrej as a brand is an integral part of our daily lives.
The students, all of them hailing from diverse streams of education, such as the School of Media And Communication, the School of Animation and the School of Filmmaking among others, each brought their own unique perspective to the creation of these videos. One such perspective was brought forth by Karn Gupta, a student who played the dual role of producer and director, making his task all the more challenging. To bring alive the Godrej brand in the most enticing manner possible was his mission, and they managed to just that in style!
A student of the MBA batch, Karn volunteered to make one of the videos with the able assistance of his fellow team members. Speaking about the project, he said that, “along with the challenge of creating a viral video, we had to work on the composition, casting, budgeting and all post-production facets. It was a great feeling of achievement when we were able to pull off the video finally. Overall, it was a great learning process and a very significant professional/industry experience for me to work with Godrej on this project. None of this could have been possible without the tremendous support of Whistling Woods International and Godrej. Whether it was arranging equipment or getting talent, no stone was left unturned to get us what we needed.”
With this industry exposure under their belt with a major player such as Godrej to boot, the Whistling Woods International students have got a taste of what working in the industry feels like and can step into their professional careers with greater confidence. Here’s looking forward to more such Ideas That Sing!
