Whistling Woods International launches School of Media and Communication with an MBA program

~ School of Media and Communication inaugurated by leading industry professionals from the media industry ~

Whistling Woods International (WWI) recently inaugurated the ‘Whistling Woods International School of Media and Communication’ (WWISMC) with the launch of its Post graduate program in Media and Communication which is coupled with an MBA (Global) in Media & Entertainment management.

WWISMC officially started its academic session from July 25th, 2011 onwards and is a two year, full-time Post Graduate Program, offering a wide range of subjects to choose from, all under one roof. Leading industry professionals from their respective fields of expertise like Mr. Mukesh Sharma, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan; Mr. Praveen Nagda, MD, Peregrine; Mr. Brian Tellis, Chairman, Fountainhead Promotions and Events; Mrs. Chitra Mulani, Corporate Communications head for Tata AIG; Mr. Ravi Gupta, former CEO of Mukta Arts & Acting Dean of WWI; Rahul Puri, Executive Director of Mukta Arts and Subhash Ghai, Chairman, WWI were present to encourage the new aspiring bunch of enthusiastic students entering the media and communication industry. The guest speakers had an insightful session with students after inaugurating SMC with lighting of the lamp.

Mr. Subhash Ghai, Chairman, Whistling Woods International encouraged the first batch of students on their first step towards a new goal and said, “This course will give you all a unique opportunity in different fields like journalism, audio-visual production management, advertising management, and events management to corporate communications. I am grateful to these leading industry professionals who are here to share their expert guidance with the students and I am hoping that you grab this opportunity and make the most of it.”

Mukesh Sharma, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan motivated the students and advised, “There is no shortcut to success without hard work and focus; the world is testing you for your future. Be obsessed with your work. You have to value the inner matter as the outer crust has no value. Find your value within yourself and you will be successful.”

Also Mr. Paveen Nagda, Managing Director, Peregrine, said, “In the field of media and communication you will experience all colours of life, so take each day as a new learning and grow with it. It doesn’t matter where you reach in life, the passion you put in it, is what matters.”

“Enjoy your education and absorb it. In this field people are your subject. Media is of the people, by the people, for the people. You are your own teacher, we are just the moderators. I want each one of you to rule the industry and that will be my true happiness. Your success is our success.” Mr. Ghai, further added.

Mrs. Chitra Mulani, Corporate Communications head for Tata AIG said, “PR is basically what to say, when to say and how to say. Corporate Communication represents an organization at every platform and PR as a profession is for image enhancement and reputation building.”

Further Mr. Brian Tellis, Chairman, Fountainhead, said, “I’m still a student of entertainment. Events are everywhere. In a year there are 1 billion weddings, 1 million festivals, 50crore weddings and a few billion corporate events. Scope is very large and passion is what drives this career.” Talking about the current media scenario, he further added, “This industry is exploding and many opportunities are arising but it needs the right people. The future is bright; you just need to put your shades on!”

Whistling Woods International School of Media and Communication (WWISMC) will be headed by Prof. Ujjwal K. Chowdhury as the Dean. He has more than 12 years of media education experience to his credit. He spoke to the students and said, “This is the first time that students will get an opportunity to avail of a dual MBA in Media & Entertainment along with the Post Graduate course in media and communication at Whistling Woods International (WWI). WWISMC is inching towards being the best institute offering the students a great education with top class facilities. I am looking forward to share my knowledge alongside my fabulous faculty, with this young and immensely talented bunch of students.”

This new initiative of Whistling Woods will present paramount opportunities to their students to wholly exploit their talents and capabilities for a lucrative career in the media industry. With a light hearted yet informative, the session came to an end paving a new path for this new maiden batch of media professionals.
