Subhash Ghai’s 70 mm Plans!

The Show Man on Hindi Cinema – Subhash Ghai plans to transform Entertainment into a much
Bigger Experience with his decision to venture into the exhibition business. After Production
& Distribution, the Filmmaker decides to make a chain of multiplexes operational under the
banner of Mukta Cinemas Brand.

Industry sources reveal that, the company plans to invest Rs 50 crores in the next 3 years
& most probably plans to tie up with mall owners in Baroda, Ahmedabad and Bhopal, on a
revenue-sharing model. Also plans to rent space, instead of buying properties outright. The
company plans to roll out 14 screens this financial year, with an investment of Rs 20 crore.

Ravi Gupta, CEO of Mukta Arts, confirmed the development, saying: “After production and
distribution, exhibition was the next logical step for us.”

The distribution arm of Mukta already controls the programming of 160 single-screen
cinema halls and multiplexes, including Big Cinemas, Inox, Fame and several other chains and
standalone properties. The Company also has interests in television and equipment hiring &
also operates the Whistling Woods Institute, which imparts training in various skills related to
films, television, and the media industry.

It’s believed that once the Company ventures into this territory, it will embark all the major
streams of the film business. So after introducing Mega-Movies, Mega-Talents, now it’s time for
some Mega-Experience!
