Majid Majidi is an internationally and critically acclaimed Iranian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in an Iranian middle class family and started acting in amateur theater groups since the age of 14. That’s a superficial introduction of the artist but who have witnessed the charm of his films, knows that the man is much beyond any formal description.
What defines him as a film maker is an ability to visualize the smallest moments in life as the most celebrated ones & his vision to highlight everything from a routine. This is rightly projected in his film ‘Children of Heaven & The Color of Paradise’ which throws light on simple human relations & small happiness in life. The way he carves a scene appears so serene even when it carries the heaviest emotion, the sensibilities & the skill with which they are executed connects the audience to the characters & their life.
Children of Heaven (1998), remains the only Iranian film to have been nominated by the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He has been associated with 18 films so far & his films are used worldwide as examples to depiction of simple life! As it’s truly said ‘Simple things introduce you to Wider Smiles in Life.’
